Reiki is a Japanese healing art that restores and balances the natural life force energy within the body. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning:
Rei.. Universal Spirit of energy that surrounds everything.
Ki.. Vital Life Energy
This healing art requires no belief, simply the willingness to experience and receive. Reiki is set apart from other modalities as it is the only healing art that requires the practitioner to be “a-tuned” to the energy. An attunement is not a healing session it is what makes the healer.
During a session, the Reiki practitioner gently places her hands on or slightly above the client’s body. The energy is drawn from the practitioner’s hands by the client receiving it. The life force energy enters the body through the Chakra system and stimulates the endocrine system. We have seven charkas running mid-line up the body. A charka is an ancient Sanskrit word, meaning wheel and is thought to stimulate and nourish different areas of the body. The charka system is also the portholes to the energy fields that surround and flows outside the body. Reiki helps to prevent physical illness by restoring balance to these more subtle fields before illness manifests in the physical body.
In a Reiki session one notices a gentle shift toward relaxation where breathing becomes slower and deep relaxation can be achieved. Everyone experiences Reiki differently. Some people feel warm tingling where Reiki hands are placed. Others feel soft wave like pulsations. Some people feel nothing in particular, nothing except they are very relaxed afterward, with an enhanced sense of well-being.
Benefits of Reiki are:
· Improved sleep
· Improve digestion
· Stress reduction
· Relief from pain & anxiety
· Increased energy
· Less depressed
· Experience relief from side effects of medication, radiation or chemotherapy
· Accelerates recovery time
Reiki does not attack disease but supports well-being and strengthens our natural ability to heal ability to heal by encouraging balance. Reiki can guide ones consciousness by redirecting our attention toward wellness. Reiki reconnects us with our sense of wholeness.
Sessions usually last an hour and clients remain fully clothed on a massage table while Reiki is being given.
Reiki Classes
Reiki classes are a combination of lecture, discussion and experience.
There are three levels of training…
Reiki I is the first level of training. You will be “a-tuned” to the universal energy, opening the physical body so the student can transmit energy. Student learns hand positions for treating self and others. Requirement for class is to have experienced a Reiki session. Usually offered on a weekend or two consecutive weekdays at the cost of $150
Reiki II amplifies the ability to perform hands-on treatment and student is given instruction on absentee or distant treatment. This level is a Practitioner’s level of training. Requirement for this level is completion of Reiki I with a minimum of 3 months of practicing Reiki on self and others. Usually offered on a weekend or two consecutive weekdays at the cost of $200.
Reiki III is offered as a Master’s level training. This level of training allows an increase of energy to ones sessions. Requirement for this level is completion of Reiki II with a minimum of one to two years of practice. Student must have a strong desire for a deeper level of work. Usually offered on a weekend or two consecutive weekdays, with additional review spanning over a 6-month period. The first day includes the Master’s attunement. The second day empowers the master student to teach Reiki and attune others at the cost of $750.
For the student who has NO DESIRE to teach, but wants to attend the 1 day for the Master’s attunement and class the cost is $500. (This includes additional review spanning over a 6-month period).
